Frequently Asked Questions

What is Do It Yourself Pest and Weed Control?

Do It Yourself is a local chain of retail distributors that specializes in pest and weed control products. We sell to professional pest and weed control applicators and directly to homeowners who want to take care of their homes. Stop by and visit us with a pest or weed problem, and we'll try to help you solve it by explaining the products that would best suit your specific needs. Customers come to us with problems ranging from ants in the kitchen to scorpions in the bedroom to weeds taking over a yard.

Will you come to my house and apply the products for me?

While our employees are well versed in insect, rodent, and weed control, Do It Yourself is strictly a distributor of professional pest and weed control products.

When you purchase products at our stores, it means the legwork involved in applications will be on your shoulders. If you're uncomfortable utilizing products yourself, then we strongly recommend you hire a professional.

How do I know what I need?

That's what we are here for! Our employees are happy to help you with questions and show you options that will work best for your particular situation. We'll do our best to help you determine a course of action before you leave.

Our employees will give you a quick briefing on product usage and application methods at time of purchase. We rely on our products' labels and you can find most detailed questions are easily answered with a quick read through when you get home. The Label Is The Law!

Can you identify a bug I found?

Though our employees do not claim to be entomologists, we will do our best to help you identify a pest you've encountered. Keep in mind that if you bring us an insect sample to look at, we are unable to guarantee an identification. For example, we may be able to identify a beetle, but we may be unable to identify the specific species you have out of the 12,000+ that exist in the U.S.

If you would like an exact diagnosis of your pest problem, consider hiring a professional or submitting your sample to the University of Arizona Insect Collection by following the instructions on their page.

Can I bring my pet to the store?

Chemical stores are not a place for pets. Only trained service animals assisting visitors are permitted inside our stores.

Can I buy your products online?

Each state has different regulations regarding chemicals that are legal to sell and use. Many products that are registered for use in Arizona are not registered for use in other states. Shipping unregistered chemicals across state lines where a product is not registered would violate federal law.

Due to these registration restrictions, chemical storage concerns, and transportation limits, Do It Yourself Pest and Weed Control of Southern Arizona does not sell pest or weed control products online. By having our professional products shipped directly to our warehouse, we can ensure each product on our shelves is suitable for sale to our local customers, without leaving our customers the hassle of verifying their region and state's chemical regulation guidelines.

If you decide to order chemical products online, we recommend that you think of that chemical as if it were a bucket of paint. Just like a can or bucket of paint might endure damage during shipping and end up leaving a brightly colored puddle on your doorstep, cans and bottles of chemicals share the same risks. In addition, verify that items ordered online are coming from a legitimate re-seller of chemical products to avoid running into counterfeit or expired products.

Please stop by any of our three Tucson locations and we will help you find the best products to treat the issues commonly encountered in our southern desert region.

I bought products at your store, but decided to hire a pro. Can I return these products?

Do It Yourself Pest and Weed accepts returns within 30 days of purchase on unopened, unused products, with the original receipt. If you are on the fence about performing a weed or pest treatment yourself, we recommend you consult with a professional prior to purchasing items in our stores. See our complete Return Policy.
