Crabgrass
(Richard Arthur Norton, Wikimedia)Almost every lawn owner has seen crabgrass at one point or another. Hot summer days and voids within lawns provide a prime growing scenario for crabgrass, and one can determine the health of a lawn by observing how much crabgrass has grown through. Often thought to be the cause of poor lawn growth, crabgrass is actually a symptom of poor lawn growth. Since crabgrass typically dies off around the fall and winter, restoring a lawns health can prevent its resurgence in the spring. Pulling crabgrass when the plants are young and utilizing pre- and post-emergents is helpful in non-lawn areas.
